Two inks, one word that should not cover both
English, Italian and campus forms all say “sign” for too many jobs. Sign the lookbook proof. Sign the internship contract. Sign with SPID. Sign in front of a notary. Only the first two — sometimes only the first — belong on a light table. Pdfmira’s Sign places visible ink: an image or a stroke on the sheet. You see it. A printer will print it. A qualified electronic signature, in the eIDAS sense, is cryptography plus identity plus (often) a device or a scheme. We do not sell the second as the first.
In Italy the confusion is thicker because SPID and CIE are everyday words. They can be used as a signing identity in some flows. That is not a PNG. When visible ink is an honest answer
A tutor who wants your name on the last plate of a lookbook. A client who said “PDF signed, please”, meaning they want to see a stroke in the colophon. An internal proof between people who already know each other. A campus club form that has always accepted a scan of a pen. Sign a proof without printing is the how-to. This plate is the why-not-more.
Keep the mail that asked for it. We are not a witness. Retention on the free sheet is about an hour. Download. The archive is yours. A watermark on a draft — mark the plate — is a diagonal line, not a legal lock. Do not confuse a running head with a seal.
When you need a notary, PEC, or a qualified scheme
Deeds. Certain powers of attorney. Calls that cite eIDAS or “firma digitale” as a requirement, not as a metaphor. HR contracts that name a trust service provider. A PEC proves a certified send; it does not turn a PNG into a qualified signature. You may send a visibly signed PDF inside a PEC. You may not tell a judge the converter signed you.
If the same thread also asks you to tidy pages, edit first. If the allegato is too heavy, compress after you still like the stroke. None of those verbs become eIDAS because they happened in a magazine chrome.
What we refuse to print
We do not rank this studio against a farm of yellow icons. We do not promise millimetre-faithful Office. We do not rank AI: those tools are coming, they are not live converters, and they will not art-direct your consent. We do not call a PNG “legally binding digital signature”. If a competitor’s headline does, that is their problem.
Stay on the bench when the work is a plate. Paperza when the work is an errand. The colophon does not change: name, VAT, street. Then the index, the studio well, help. Look, mark if the brief is a mark, leave. No stars in the gutter.
